REMEMBERING FORMER BREVARD COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT DIRECTOR MANUEL J. GARCIA, MD

We are saddened at the passing of Dr. Manuel J. Garcia, the former director of the Brevard County Health Department. He was with the health department from 1974 – 1997 when he retired. Dr. Garcia was devoted in helping people by providing needed public health services to the residents of Brevard County. Many programs that we have today in our health department are a result of his efforts. The Titusville Health Department was dedicated and named in his honor for his contributions in public health. Heidar Heshmati, MD, current director of the Brevard County Health Department said, “Dr. Garcia was his friend, mentor and a very fine physician who willingly shared his background and experiences in public health.” He will be indeed missed by all who knew him.
